Achim Schaffrinna studied communication and interaction design at the Fachhochschule Hannover - University of Applied Sciences and Arts. During 10 years working for digital agencies he deepened his experiences in usability, user journey and interaction design. As Head of Design he was leading the visual direction (digital) of german news brand Hannoversche Allgemeine. He is the founder of the design blog Design Tagebuch, which has been awarded the Grimme Online Award (GOA) in 2009.
He served as a judge for the GOA, the Adobe Acrobat Award, the Designpreis by Design made in Germany and contributes articles as a design critic for many magazins and newspapers (design report, Grid, Horizont, W&V, Politik & Kommunikation, Stuttgarter Zeitung ...). Since 2011 he supports companies within design processes, working as a independent brand designer and design consultant.
He believes that design is a process, characterized by trial, error and improvement. He likes to travel off the beaten track and loves to spent time with his two sons and two dogs. Daily walks through the forest are the best way for him to switch off and recharge.
