45th Dimitria Festival

Dimitria is the largest cultural & intellectual festival in Thessaloniki & Northern Greece. Every year, in early Autumn, the Festival marks the beginning of a series of major artistic & intellectual events held in Thessaloniki, covering all the arts & interests. 16 characters were illustrated in order to be used as the main elements of the complete visual identity. The illustrations were used in many different applications. From 3 meters height wooden installations that were placed at the hotspots and historical places of Thessaloniki to any promotional material, publications and merchandise of the project. Those illustrations have reference in the local traditional culture (greek shadow theater, engraving art). The theme of the illustrations is related to each place or activity they were installed or used for eg. a fisherman sitting on the seaside, an owl near the university area, a fish hanging by the fish market ceiling e.t.c. For this 45th Dimitria festival we designed a logo that is using the form of a ship in order to visualize the number 45 emphasizing the sea nature of the city and the importance of it’s port.
