Like many cultural institutions, the Athens State Orchestra is struggling to survive the deep economic and social crisis in Greece. Devising a low-budget TV commercial for the 2015-2016 season, we were inspired by the idea of musical improvisation as a creative catalyst for change. So we hand-carved a series of string, wind and percussion instruments from fruits and vegetables sourced from the local farmer’s market. We wanted to use something affordable and accessible to communicate the idea that creativity will thrive, and solutions can be found, even in the worst-case scenario.
The slogan reads: ‘We will find a way’.
Afterwards, we made vegetable soup from the leftovers and shared a delicious lunch with the client.
