Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles – identity

by Podpunkt / Superskrypt
Bronze

A custom typeface can create a visual identity that is more flexible and recognisable than one based on a single graphic symbol. What’s more, the type creates a visual language and defines the communication in a way that a less original typeface never could.
For the Centre de musique baroque de Versailles, we proposed a flexible system of communication rather than a single graphic symbol.
The typographic logo is based on three distinctive letters:
– c – a reference to the music key
– b – a reference to a note in the music notation
– d – a reference to a note in the music notation
(only in the long version of the logo)
– : (colon) – a reference to music notation
The logotype is distinguishable in both the short and long version of the institutions name.
The typographic approach lets us easily construct sublogos using the colon.
As a complement to the typographic logo, we propose the crescendo symbol as a graphic symbol present in the identity.
