The conceptual solution of the poetry collection ”Closed on Sundays” questions whether a contemporary poet should pack his poetry as a consumer good, in order for it to be noticed in a time when poetry generally becomes completely marginalized. The poet’s words are packed and weighed in kilos, playing with the allusion to everyday consumerism, which has become today almost the only form of communication that a modern man understands. The Istrian dialect term ”doprta butiga” or ”open shop” is used when someone has an open pants zipper. The collection is called “Closed on Sundays”, but the zipper of the poet’s pants (the poster represents a realistic portrait of the author) is actually opened, as a symbol of open stores. The fact is that the poets have no Sundays, no matter how much they would want it.
