De Balie is a center for culture and politics, which hosts debates, seminars, theater and films, aimed at current cultural, political and social issues. De Balie asked Lava to develop its identity, maintaining its existing logo.

De Balie highlights important developments in society: Lava took this fact as a starting point and translated it to an identity where De Balie literally underlines what is important. Only the logotype is fixed: for each topic, Lava chooses a new typeface and a style of underlining that connects to the content. Colors are also picked to match the topic at hand. This ensures an endless variety of images while creating a very recognizable identity at the same time.
