Letters between Jerzy Giedroyc and Zdzisław Najder (1957–1985)

by Podpunkt / Superskrypt

”Listy” (”Letters”) is a correspondence between Jerzy Giedroyc (editor of a leading Polish-émigré literary-political journal ”Kultura”) and Zdzisław Najder (director of Radio Free Europe).
The books design resolves around the nature of the lengthy correspondence—letters are sent between the recipients, but they rarely meet face to face, and over the years start drifting apart. So, the title also drifts off the cover or spread, and is followed by another one entering it. Inside the book, the letters have been numbered and marked, showing the sender and recipient—thus facilitating navigation through the book. Thin lines and boxes are used consistently as the sole decorative element throughout the otherwise minimalist design.
