Mezz is a pop concert venue in Breda, the Netherlands. Everyone who works here loves and lives music. Unfortunately the energy and innovative spirit of the people and the knowledge of discovering new talent did not always come across in their communication. Because of that, the people that worked at Mezz at times felt frustrated and occasionally disconnected with their brand.
Mezz asked us to help them with determining a new position in the market, creating a new brand strategy and redesigning their visual identity.
Mezz is a relatively small venue which gives it that underground feeling. Combined with their ambition to discover new bands and their interest in local talent creates a feeling of creative energy. Inspired by silkscreen prints and punkrock influences we created a visual identity that feels handcrafted and authentic. A little rough on the edges but ridged enough to provide structure when designing new touchpoints while maintaining overal recognizability.
The logo itself feels somewhat unbalanced at first, it gives the brand that feeling of imperfection. Which is exactly what Mezz is all about. Trial and error in discovering new music. The Brand Identity is translated to a corporate and campaign style, inspirational strategy, volunteer starter kits, online media (including a new website) and many campaigns, posters and other marketing collateral.
