„Democracy, now or never“, „Swap GDR for Mickey Mouse“, „Election means selection“, The huge variety of social and political demands of the Peaceful Revolution creates a panoramic view of the events in the autumn of 1989.
Based on the banners of the protesters, an airy, pavilion-like structure made of metal banners with the slogans of the Peaceful Revolution is erected. Sunlight can shine through the laser-cut lettering on the panels. Raising your eyes, you will see the slogans above the heads of the visitors while the writing reveals parts of the sky. Visitors can sit down and linger on the seats integrated into the installation.
Images of the protests are made visible via an AR application. The app lets appear images from contemporary witnesses and reveals the background of the banner quotations, shows individual actors in the protests, and lets empathize the atmosphere of this special time.
In addition, contemporary witnesses still have the opportunity to contribute their own pictures of these events to the image pool.
Through this different slogans and places of origin, the installation creates a multitude of voices to be heard.
