The completion of Südtiroler Volksbank’s—a major South Tyrolean bank’s—new headquarters and the relocation of 306 employees to the new building inspired the conception and design of this corporate brochure. Its purpose is to convey the building’s architectural features as well as the innovative spatial and workplace concept behind it. It is no conventional architecture tome; instead, it is comprised of lively pages, which portray the employees, the building’s occupants and the work environment contained within. The brochure follows not only the conception and evolution of the new headquarters but also the move of the entire workforce from familiar, conventional office spaces to a new, dialogue-oriented, open workspace.
Just as architecture is always a response to its surroundings and users, the brochure’s design reflects the building, its interior and exterior spaces, its functions and of course its occupants. The cover, for example, encourages the reader to create open spaces through cutouts in the cardboard, leaving behind a structure that, despite its gaps, is sturdy and stable – and which we see as only having achieved its ideal form with the help of the user.
