SYSMON - connecting the industry

SYSMON is an innovative, web based IoT service platform connecting industrial products to a user friendly interface by seamlessly placing their data in the cloud. Small and medium-sized manufacturers, who have struggled to find the resources and talent needed to digitalize their business, can now monitor systems, foresee their customers’ needs for spare parts and service, and provide remote control and support, adding significant revenue to their existing business.
 
SYSMON is an ecosystem with a potentially infinite grid of connected systems, and we needed to create a coherent and satisfying user experience across an infinite number of SYSMON entry points and varying data consumption needs. To do so, we created an adaptive dashboard experience, based on a principle of intelligent consolidation of data. Making optimum use of the size of the screen, we created tiles that are dynamic and adapted to the extension of detail required at any given time.
Within the industrial segment, functionality tends to be the overarching priority, often at the expense of user experience and design. With SYSMON, we wanted to adopt a different approach and create an industrial platform that is both extremely functional and extremely user friendly. To support this principle, we crafted a custom UI-kit that creates a sense of lightness. We introduced motions to UI elements in order to capture the attention of users and engage them emotionally. The font we chose, Rajdhani, has a technical, futuristic look but its rounded corners provide a sense of softness and elegance. 
 
SYSMON is white label, meaning that customers can brand SYSMON in their own name. We call it the chameleon effect, and our colour scheme is inspired by the chameleon, as SYSMON has to embrace all kinds of colours and brands. We selected a few significant assets that SYSMON customers can customize in an intuitive set-up that offers immediate, visual feedback. This gives the customer a sense of emotional ownership without undermining the integrity of the design. At the core of the SYSMON visual identity are the colours blue and green, chosen because they symbolise Grundfos (water in industrial pumps) and sustainability (an important objective for Grundfos and SYSMON).
Together, the UI-kit, the font, the colours and the motions provide a visual identity that manifests the very objective of SYSMON: To raise the bar for creating useful digital products for the industry without compromising design, usability or emotional involvement.
