Launched by “Ionian Fish”, a family-owned business located in the coastal town of Preveza in north-western Greece, «Tou Prevezanou» is a new range of high quality frozen and pre-cooked fish and crustaceans aimed at the 30-something culinary type who is looking for an authentic taste.
For the new product’s branding, 2yolk “fished” for inspiration in the long fishing history of the Goumas family. With a brand name – translated into English as «Prevezanos’»- and a logo that depicts the letter “π” (representing [p] in the Latin alphabet) and a fish hook, our aim was to highlight the rich catches of the Ionian Sea and the Ambracian Gulf, the “home” of the Goumas grandfather, a keen fisherman and great craftsman of authentic fish delicacies.
Following on his legacy, we decided that the Prevezanos packaging should have the simplicity and freshness of a good fish delicacy. A simple die cut on each package allows the consumer to see the product, while the main ingredient is dominant through a unique illustration made using the linocut printmaking technique. The result, a handmade, almost «raw» visual language, captures the manual labour and delicate cooking process needed for the preparation of these delicacies, as the Goumas family tradition dictates.
