Ultraschall Berlin sees itself as a forum for inno­­­vation – Avant-garde and modern classics are directly related. Musicians, who rank among the best in the world, make it one of the highlights of new music. The signet is a strongly simplified translation of opposing sound waves, which are formally derived from the constellation of the 4 letters L in the typogram “Ultraschall Berlin”. The new positioning is intended to give the fes­­tival an even stronger foothold in Berlin. Correspondingly the new positioning produces an imagery, which visualises the term urbanity: The playing or reading of a score is projected onto the Berlin theme: the point currently being played is in focus, the remaining score surface is out of focus.
