Ultraschall Berlin sees itself as a forum for innovation – Avant-garde and modern classics are directly related. Musicians, who rank among the best in the world, make it one of the highlights of new music. The signet is a strongly simplified translation of opposing sound waves, which are formally derived from the constellation of the 4 letters L in the typogram “Ultraschall Berlin”. The new positioning is intended to give the festival an even stronger foothold in Berlin. Correspondingly the new positioning produces an imagery, which visualises the term urbanity: The playing or reading of a score is projected onto the Berlin theme: the point currently being played is in focus, the remaining score surface is out of focus.
