XXIV-45: wars and totalitarianism in a border region
The exhibition „XXIV-45: wars and totalitarianism in a border region“ is dedicated to the last decade of the period between the world wars from a local perspective: What effect do war and totalitarianism have on today’s Euroregion of Trentino, South Tyrol and Tyrol?
The exhibition follows a zigzag strip which runs through the „Galleria Nera“, a black painted abandoned highway tunnel in Trento and symbolizes the masses being steered during this time.
The red strip has been stretched through some detours to a total length of over 700m, doubling the original distance of the tunnel. Therefore space has been created for numerous fotos, films and audio recordings from this period showing the cruel reality as well as the different ways of resistance. The visitor leaves the exhibition knowing that nowadays, freedom is just a borrowed good and needs to be protected.
