Étienne Hervy is a curator, writer, and educator with a focus on graphic design and visual culture. He collaborates with professionals in the fields of design, arts, culture, and publishing, fostering projects that explore the intersections of these disciplines.
As the former art director and curator of the Chaumont Graphic Design Festival, Étienne played a pivotal role in shaping its programming and was responsible for the prefiguration of the new graphic design center in Chaumont. His curatorial work reflects a deep engagement with contemporary graphic design practices and their cultural significance.
For a decade, Étienne worked with the design magazine étapes:, serving as its editor-in-chief and contributing to its development as a leading platform for design discourse. In addition to his editorial and curatorial projects, Étienne teaches, lectures, and conducts workshops, sharing his knowledge and experience with the next generation of designers and cultural practitioners.
He was recently appointed as director of le TRACé, a public establishment which reunites in Echirolles (Grenoble area) an art center and a biennial both dedicated to graphic design with two museums devoted to art and industrial memory.
