How ED-Awards Juries Work

ED-Awards juries are composed of design critics and commentators — not practicing designers. This approach is deliberate and reflects our core values:

  • Encourage critical reading of design
  • Ensure independent and informed evaluation
  • Avoid conflicts of interest (e.g. judging competitors, clients, or collaborators)
  • Prioritise cultural, editorial, and academic expertise

In short, ED-Awards jurors are selected for their ability to analyse, contextualise, and articulate design quality — not for their commercial practice.

Balance, diversity, and representation

  • Juries have been gender and geographically balanced throughout our 20 year history
  • All European regions are represented
  • No country is represented by more than one member within the same jury
  • Jury members are based in Europe

These rules ensure fairness, independence, and a genuinely European perspective.

You may use the form below to suggest someone — including yourself — for consideration as a future ED-Awards jury member. Please note the following:

  • Submission of this form does not imply or constitute an invitation to serve on a jury.
  • Only direct, written invitations issued by the ED-Awards team are valid.
  • Submissions are reviewed periodically and retained on file for future consideration.
  • We do not respond individually to submissions unless we are actively considering a candidate.
  • All information is treated confidentially and used solely for jury selection purposes.
