How ED-Awards Juries Work
ED-Awards juries are composed of design critics and commentators — not practicing designers. This approach is deliberate and reflects our core values:
- Encourage critical reading of design
- Ensure independent and informed evaluation
- Avoid conflicts of interest (e.g. judging competitors, clients, or collaborators)
- Prioritise cultural, editorial, and academic expertise
In short, ED-Awards jurors are selected for their ability to analyse, contextualise, and articulate design quality — not for their commercial practice.
Balance, diversity, and representation
- Juries have been gender and geographically balanced throughout our 20 year history
- All European regions are represented
- No country is represented by more than one member within the same jury
- Jury members are based in Europe
These rules ensure fairness, independence, and a genuinely European perspective.
You may use the form below to suggest someone — including yourself — for consideration as a future ED-Awards jury member. Please note the following:
- Submission of this form does not imply or constitute an invitation to serve on a jury.
- Only direct, written invitations issued by the ED-Awards team are valid.
- Submissions are reviewed periodically and retained on file for future consideration.
- We do not respond individually to submissions unless we are actively considering a candidate.
- All information is treated confidentially and used solely for jury selection purposes.
