ED-Awards ceremony in Vilnius 2011
The European Design Awards ceremony will take place at the Dance Theater (Sokio teatras) Saturday evening May 14th starting 19:30. Tickets bought in our web shop can be picked up 19:00 at the theater reception.
Design Weekend in Vilnius
Design Weekend is a 4-day program (12-15 May) with design events and parties held in an old factory (where many of Vilnius design agencies have their offices). Read more here.

ICOGRADA (International Council of Graphic Design Associations) in collaboration with LGDA (Lithuanian Graphic Design Association) will organize a 2 day conference and other events 9-13 May under the name Spring Design Week. Read more here.
Vilnius Design Walks
The tickets to five Design Walks in Vilnius where released in our web shop last week. Visit each agency together with a local Design Guide for 30 minutes and in a few hours you’ll have a good overview of the Lithuanian design scene.
Awards party
The party will be at Opium club/Briusly bar at Islandijos street 4.
The bar upstairs is called Briusly bar while the club downstairs is Opium club. Briusly bar also serves food. There will be a DJ playing at the Opium club all night.
Rented buses will await for you outside the Dance theater (Sokio teatras) and take you to the club about 10 minutes after the awards ceremony ends.
The ticket will include the bus transfer from the theater, entrance and a welcome drink.

ED-Awards 2011 ceremony
The European Design Awards ceremony will take place at the Dance Theater (Sokio theater) Saturday evening May 14th.

The theater belongs to an art school and is located about 2 km north-east of the old town. A taxi here is not expensive but please read this note before you order.
If your hotel is in the Old town the walk here is along the river and takes about 20-25 minutes. Head north from the old town until you reach the main river. Turn right and follow the road along the south bank of the river 1 km east. Turn right 100 meters before you reach a big roundabout. The Sokio theatre is around the corner to the right.
Design Walk Saturday C+
A Design Walk is a guided tour to local design agencies who have taken upon them to welcome you into their offices, answer your questions and showcase some of their work. This is a chance to meet great designers eye-to-eye on their home ground and a perfect way for international guests to experience the Vilnius design scene. Each stop lasts for about 30 minutes. This walk visits two design agencies in or near the old town.
Please note that this is the Design Walk with the longest walking distance (about 5 km) so bring comfortable shoes.

Korb is a freelance based VFX and design company founded by CGI director Rimantas Lukavicius. Working along with the other freelancers and companies Korb specifies in visual effects, motion graphics and mixed media projects. Korb has been bringing ideas to motion and backwards since 2005.

PetPunk is a collaboration of two artists located in Vilnius (Lithuania): Andrius Kirvela & Gediminas Šiaulys. Joined July 2005, they work on various projects across video, print and interactive media.
Worked with brands like: Sprite, MTV, Vodafone, Nike, McDonald‘s, Computer Arts, Cultures France.

Vilnius 2011
This year we are collaborating with ICOGRADA and several Lithuanian organizations to fill a week in Vilnius with design related activities.
- European Design will organize the European Design Awards ceremony on May 14th, a party and several Design Walks on the 13th and 14th of May.
- ICOGRADA (International Council of Graphic Design Associations) in collaboration with LGDA (Lithuanian Graphic Design Association) will organize a 2 day conference and other events 9-13 May under the name Spring Design Week.
- Design Weekend is a 4-day program (12-15 May) with design events and parties held in an old factory (where many of Vilnius design agencies have their offices).
- Innovation Festival 7-14 May is a series of events focused mainly on Product Design.

Results mailed to participants 15 April
All participants of the ED-Awards 2011 will be informed of the results for their own submissions via e-mail 15 April. If you have not received any e-mail by the 16th, please contact us at info@europeandesign.org. Please keep the result to yourself and your client until it is officially announced at the Awards ceremony May 14th in Vilnius.
Adrian Shaughnessy
Adrian Shaughnessy is a graphic designer and writer based in London. In 1989 he co-founded the design company Intro. Today he runs ShaughnessyWorks, a consultancy combining design and editorial direction. He is a founding partner in Unit Editions, a publishing company producing books on design and visual culture.
Shaughnessy has written and art directed numerous books on design including How to be a Graphic Designer Without Losing Your Soul which has sold over 70,000 copies to date. A new edition appeared in 2010. He latest book is Supergraphics — Transforming Space: Graphic Design for Walls, Buildings & Spaces (Unit Editions).
He writes regularly for Eye and Creative Review, and has a monthly column in Design Week. He is an occasional contributor to avant-garde music magazine The Wire. From 2006 until 2009, Shaughnessy was editor of Varoom, a publication devoted to the critical appraisal of illustration. Shaughnessy has been interviewed frequently on television and radio and lectures extensively around the world. In 2010 he was appointed visiting professor at the Royal College of Art, London.

Ferah Perker
Editor
Ferah Perker was born in Istanbul, Turkey, in 1967. With 24 years of experience in graphic design and advertising, she has worked as an art director for major network advertising agencies and clients in Turkey (Young & Rubicam, Leo Burnett, Saatchi & Saatchi, Ogilvy & Mather, Foot Cone & Belding etc.).
She has been working as a freelance graphic designer since 2009 and is an integral member of the Grafik Tasarım magazine’s Consulting and Publication Commission. Ferah is a member of the Turkish Society of Graphic Design and of the Turkish Society of Advertising Creatives.
